Water your sod , 15 minutes PER SECTION, twice a day. We recommend late in the evening and early in the morning. IF the temperatures are high, water for 30 minutes in the afternoon. NO, RAIN DOES NOT COUNT.
About 10 days. You want the lines of the sod to disappear and the sod to get green and tall. Like 6 or 7 inches tall. If the lawn appears more yellow than green, water for longer periods of time.
Pull the sprinklers off of it, and let it dry for a full day or depending on the weather 2 days.
After letting the lawn dry out, and the sod is now 6 or 7 inches long. Cut the lawn on the HIGHEST SETTING on your mower. Bag up the debris.
Give the lawn a couple of days to recover from the first cut, then adjust your mower to your desired height. Mow and mulch the clippings.
After the 2nd mowing you can enjoy your lawn like any other. Remember to fertilize regularly and water once a week whether it needs it or not. Protect your investment and only water what you want to live and stay green
During the first 10 days it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you stay off the sod. Every footstep, bicycle track, skateboard or large dog paw will create an uneven spot in the sod. Stay off for the entire watering process.
We place the new soil and use a heavy roller to level the soil. Then we place the sod and roll the sod flat and level. When we come back in 10 days, we re-roll the sod one more time, while its still wet. This ensures our process makes the lawn flat.
The sod pieces are like a sponge. When they get dry, they shrink and expose more of the lines. When they are watered properly, the lines disappear.
We add a small fertilizer application to the soil before laying the sod down. After the watering process, we apply the fertilizer a second time.
The lines should be less visible after the 10 day watering process. The sod will fill itself in with minor lines, large lines may need some soil and seed. WATERING the first 10 days is paramount.
Contact us and we can send out a technician immediately. Many issues with new sod are from not enough water. NO, you cannot over water your sod.
